I Closed SpiritualDiversity | Etsy Didn't Deactivate My Shop
Etsy didn’t ban me. Etsy didn’t suspend my account. Etsy didn’t deactivate my SpiritualDiversity shop.
I QUIT.
I voluntarily walked away from selling twelve-dollar candle spells to entitled customers. That is twelve lousy dollars that I didn’t even see in full after Etsy fees, payment processing, and supplies. Removing my listings and dropping my store name was the best decision I ever made for Spiritual Diversity Magic.
The Myth of the Etsy Witch Ban
People love to talk about spellcasting violating Etsy’s policy, but the real violation was customers violating my boundaries.
The biggest myth out there is that Etsy suddenly developed a strict moral compass and banned metaphysical services across the board. They didn’t. The rules were always on the books, but they only enforced them in sudden, sporadic bot sweeps whenever the platform took a little heat online. Once the public attention died down, it was right back to business as usual. Just look how many spell shops are still active.
Why wouldn't it be? They were raking in cash from every single listing fee, every sale, and every ad dollar while we played the game. So we masked the words in our titles. We tiptoed, coded our listings, and real sellers woke up every morning wondering if today was the day years of hard work would vanish overnight just because the algorithm needed to make a temporary point, all while automated bots left a lot of scam shops untouched.
The Bitter Reality of "Community"
Some of the automated bots didn't just wake up and find spellcasters on their own. They had plenty of help from the inside. People who got their witchy shops banned were furious that others survived, and they started mass-reporting everyone else out of pure, unadulterated spite.
While they wasted time on that, I was busy watching the entire marketplace collapse. I saw the race to the bottom, realized the industry was a sinking ship, and got the hell out of dodge.
High-Tier Work for Pennies
The day I walked away, I could finally breathe. I know my worth, and I am done bending over backward for a customer base that has been conditioned to expect actual spiritual labor for the price of a coffee. I will never again perform that intense amount of energy and work for people who are used to the two-dollar automated spellcasting that runs rampant on Etsy. I am done dealing with people who extract and extract, then demand more. I even removed spell services from my website entirely.
So no, Etsy didn’t deactivate my shop. I deactivated my listings and walked away on my own terms.
